Our scope included full airside testing and balancing, plant performance verification, and functional testing of the air handling, VRF air conditioning, and ventilation systems to ensure compliance with the design intent and project specifications. AirRated® worked closely with the project team to validate system performance, optimise airflow distribution, and support successful handover of fully operational, compliant mechanical systems.

AirRated® was engaged as the independent commissioning specialist for The Court Theatre, delivering performance verification of the HVAC and mechanical ventilation systems throughout this landmark performing arts facility.

Our scope included full airside and waterside testing and balancing, plant performance verification, and functional testing of air handling systems, ventilation systems, and associated controls. AirRated® also verified life safety operation by testing fire and smoke control modes within the auditorium, confirming correct system response and smoke management in accordance with the project fire engineering and mechanical design requirements.

AirRated® worked closely with the project team to validate system performance and support successful handover of fully operational, compliant mechanical systems.

Our scope covered the full commissioning and verification of air handling and distribution systems, including critical stairwell pressurisation systems designed to protect occupants and support safe fire egress. Through a rigorous commissioning process, AirRated® ensured all systems performed in line with design intent, life-safety requirements, and handover expectations.

Skyline Queenstown is investing in a significant upgrade and expansion of its facilities. The project is a one in 30-year project. As well as a complete redevelopment of the Skyline upper complex and brand-new bottom entry terminal, the project will see the current four-seater Gondola system replaced with a state-of-the-art 10-seater Gondola and replacement of the Luge chairlift. 

Together with Naylor Love as the Main Contractor and Aquaheat NZ as the Mechanical Contractor installing the HVAC equipment, AirRated® was engaged to independently commission the HVAC systems for the top terminal, bottom terminal and carpark building, with work now moving through to the Main Building in 2026.

The Te Huka Unit 3 power station, currently under construction on Centennial Drive in Taupō, New Zealand, is set to enhance the Te Huka geothermal power station site.

Geothermal energy is a remarkable yet often overlooked asset in New Zealand. Our nation proudly leads the world in this field, showcasing our technological prowess and innovative spirit. This sustainable resource offers an ideal solution for reducing our dependence on fossil fuel-based baseload generation within the national grid.

Notably, VAE Group, known for their mechanical expertise, has orchestrated and installed the mechanical systems in the new Turbine and Generator Building, Administration & Workshop Building, and Generator and Pump Room. AirRated® has been entrusted with the independent commissioning of the air systems related to HVAC services.

Contact Energy is currently overseeing the construction of the Tauhara Power Station in Taupō, located in the heart of New Zealand’s Central North Island.

This geothermal power station boasts a substantial capacity of 174MW and operates using a steam turbine system. It stands as Contact Energy’s sixth geothermal power facility in this region. Construction commenced early 2021 and Tauhara is on track to be fully operational by late 2023.

Positioned just off Broadlands Road to the east of Taupō, the Tauhara power station strategically taps into the rich geothermal energy resources of the area. Notably, VAE Group, renowned for their expertise in mechanical services, has masterminded and installed the mechanical systems within the new Turbine and Generator Building, Administration & Workshop Building, and Generator and Pump Room. AirRated® has been entrusted to independently commission the air and water systems related to HVAC services.

In Invercargill’s inner-city block, a brand-new central city mall has been successfully built by the primary contractor, Amalgamated Building Limited (ABL). The project underwent a phased handover process until its successful completion. Beattie Air was responsible for installing the mechanical ventilation systems according to Cosgroves’ design specifications. This project comprised three distinct stages, with the primary redevelopment effort referred to as the South Block, encompassing both Stage 1 and Stage 2.

The South Block now stands as a two-story structure, housing multiple new classrooms, breakout spaces, library facilities, and staff workrooms/offices. Stage 3 saw the construction of the Administration Block, situated north of Stages 1 and 2.

Aquaheat NZ Ltd successfully installed new HVAC systems in these buildings, seamlessly integrating them with existing mechanical and electrical services. AirRated® provided commissioning services for the mechanical air and water systems in these completed structures.

Stage 2 involves the establishment of a dedicated facility for the YMCA’s community-oriented initiatives. This space will house a versatile black-box theatre, a preschool, areas for health and well-being programs, educational resources for young individuals, dance and movement studios, as well as various support services, such as a general medical practice and physiotherapy. These activities will take place within a fully operational environment.

The design concept aims to create a new focal point for the YMCA along Rolleston Avenue, directly opposite the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. This will be achieved by activating a central courtyard between Hotel Give and the new building, effectively forming a central hub within the broader YMCA redevelopment.

Ultimately, this building will serve as a cross-cultural and cross-generational community hub, bringing vibrancy to the heart of Ōtautahi Christchurch.

AirRated® have been engaged to independently commission the air and water systems in this new facility.
